Brown-outs and Electric Bill
March, April and May, these are the months of 2010 where brown-outs had been very rampant. According to the news, a rotating brown-out will be experienced in Mindanao ranging in about 4 to 6 hours per day. This was due to El Nino phenomenon

that hit the Philippines more than the previous times.
Work has been held in too much delay especially when its completion relies much on the use of technology like computer and printer. Businesses and many others were very much affected by the said occurrences. Issues left and right pertaining to its connection to election was also intrigued.
However, what really amazed me most was the bill that I am going to pay a month. I assumed that since brown-outs exist, my electric bill will be reduced. I was thinking so because our appliances were seldom used, therefore, the consumption of current should be decreased. But, surprisingly, it was the other way around. I have seen our electric rose up in double.
“What is suppose to be the reason behind all this?”, I asked the teller when I visited the FIBECO Office. His answer was, “Sir, the amount per kilowatt was increased.” Sigh!, that was my first reaction. Can I do anything about it? Can anybody do something to control its increase? Those are the follow-up question came up into my mind after hearing such answer.
At present, brown-outs were stopped because it’s already rainy season. But still the amount per kilowatthour continues to hike. Again, “Who can help us stop this continuous increase? Will the new administration do anything to investigate on this?”
